Sunday Post #192

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Another week in the dust. And we lost an hour! Ugh. It'll catch up with me tomorrow. It usually does. But, that means nicer weather is coming. And longer sunny days. I could use more sun.

As for my elbow, I called the doctor to see if the x-ray came over. There was a note that I have a bone spur and now need to see an orthopedic doctor. Since the pain has become a constant, I was able to get an appointment for Tuesday morning. I'm glad one of the doctors in the office I called is available sooner rather than later. What will they say? I don't know. I know the pain is growing in level and in time I feel it rather than not. I'll see what the doctor says when I see him.

My grandmother took a turn over last weekend. She's been on hospice for some time as she has dementia and slowly going down hill. She's lived a great life but this is a hard process to watch. We are hoping she'll pass in peace, but it could be any day or linger on with a small thread to life. I did visit last week, and will visit again soon.

Forbidden Island by Jeremy Robinson

"The experiences with this island grow stranger and stranger. Really. What they find here are mind blowing. I never expected to come in and find what we we did."

Winter of Ice and Iron by Rachel Neumeier

"Rachel takes characters and gracefully glides them into positions they are perfect for, but don't want or think they are right for. There are hard moments they live through that brings out their inner selves, and these are the people they truly are and where they should be."

Audio Books Requested for Review:
Devil in a Black Suit by Colleen Helme
Goodreads Synopsis:
From the bestselling Shelby Nichols Adventure Series comes the long-awaited story about Alejandro Ramos. Don't miss this thrilling adventure about our favorite hit-man!
Ramos’s job as the right-hand man to a mobster used to be easy until Shelby Nichols, a mind-reading soccer mom, joined the organization. With all the trouble she gets into, he’s constantly putting his life on the line just to keep her alive.
When a government agent from his past shows up wanting a favor, she rekindles a flame they once shared. Ensnared in her scheme, Ramos discovers that there’s more to her favor than he realized. Luckily for him, he has a few tricks up his sleeve that might save his skin…but what about his heart?

Evolution: Angel by Starla Huchton
Goodreads Synopsis:
Candace Bristol has always been obsessed with comic books, but in a world where the nightly news often mirrors these inked stories, her dreams of becoming a real superhero could actually come true. After being rescued by members of the government’s AdvaNced Genetic EvoLution (ANGEL) Project four years ago, getting recruited for this elite team is all she's wanted.

Now 18, she's finally reached her goal after years of study and physical training, but little could have prepared her for life as a genetic experiment. As though coming to terms with her new ability to manipulate water isn't tough enough, she never expected to be swept off her feet by one of her fellow recruits.

With genetic alteration, the threat of physical and mental instability hangs over every superhero like a shadow. When one of their own tumbles over the edge of madness, Candace will have to choose between protecting the world, and saving the one who holds her heart.

Evolution: Sage by Starla Huchton
Goodreads Synopsis:
Devastated by her choices, Candace Bristol is on the brink of losing it all: her mind, her hope, everything she thought she was.

But from the ruins rises new purpose. An enemy has emerged and it will take everything to combat this new threat. Broken as she is, picking up the pieces and carrying on might be the hardest battle to win, but it's either fight, or lose what little she has left.

Amongst the wreckage, hope still burns. The flicker of a flame kindles something within her she thought was dead.

Love can break you.

So, too, can it bring you back to life.

Evolution: Hex by Starla Huchton
Goodreads Synopsis:
A lie is a prison without bars.

A captive of the enemy, Candace is forced to confront mistakes and regrets from both sides of the battlefield, including her own. Nothing is simple, and lines in the sand that were once clear have become blurred and indistinguishable. Even the unlikely love she found teeters on the edge of uncertainty.

The truth is not always what it seems, and can be a prison of its own.

Alone, she must decide where she stands. Alone, she must decide who to trust.

When the smoke clears, what's left might not be much…

But it might be enough.

High Lonesome by Jaye Wells
Goodreads Synopsis:
In the sleepy mountain town of Moon Hollow, Virginia, there is a church with a crooked steeple. No one will say for sure how it got that way, but it’s the reason the whole town gathers every Decoration Day to honor the dead.

But this year, there are two fresh graves up on Cemetery Hill, a stranger’s come to town, and the mountain’s song is filled with dark warnings.

The good people of Moon Hollow are about to learn that some secrets are too painful to bear, and some spirits are too restless to stay buried.

Angel's Touch by Anna Santos
Goodreads Synopsis:
A curse to break, a mate to save.

Young Camille’s dreams are shattered when she’s rejected by the ruthless and abusive Alpha of the Shadow Pack. Her only chance at survival is to arrive in Paris and pray that what her brother told her about the angels is true.

Chased and almost killed upon her arrival, she’s saved by the mythical creatures who protect the city. Plus, Fate gives her a new mate—the one she always dreamed about. But with a price.

Jacob had been waiting a long time to be matched with a rejected soul so he could break his curse and become a full angel. Camille is everything he’d been looking for in a mate—she has a good heart and she’s extremely brave. Running against time, they have thirty days to fall in love or he will turn into stone, forever.

Peril strikes when Alpha Simon wants to reclaim Camille. In a mad quest for power, he wages war on the other packs. Now more than being saved, Camille needs to be the savior and stop the cruel Alpha from hurting the people she loves.

Find out how Camille and Jacob met in this sweet fantasy angel romance that can be read as a standalone.
