This Week:

Without a word, he dragged me with him into an empty conference room and dropped me unceremoniously in the middle of the floor.  He muttered a juicy curse under his breath and kicked the door closed, then turned back to me, hands on his hips.

Cover Reveal: Time Heals

I've got a new cover for and AMAZING series.  Okay, so this is the second book, but DANG.  I SO LOVED THE FIRST!!!  Really, I can't tell you how much I can goosh over the first book.  Yes, it's a Young Adult read, but it was so good.  Loved the world created with the 'stranger' and the healer along with the man-wolf and vampire.  So good.  So worth picking up.

Okay, enough, I know.  On to the new cover for book two...

Time Heals
By:  Dina James
Due Out:  March 26, 2013

Description:
Rebecca MacDonnell is strange. More than that, she's a Stranger, a human born with the ability to use her own life's force to heal ethereal beings. Vampires, werewolves, demons, ghosts, goblins, and other things thought only imaginary all need help sometime, and when they do, they come to her.

Some things, however, are beyond help. Something is stalking all Ethereals, great and small. Beings of every race are fleeing a terror no one will acknowledge, let alone name.

At seventeen, Mistress Healer Rebecca is still learning to manage her power. She must learn to control it before it controls her.

Unless it's already too late.

When her burgeoning ability gets away from her, that which heals turns to harm and drives her loyal man-wolf bodyguard Billy straight into the arms of the unknown horror.

Unlikely new friends are her only hope to finding out what's happened, and she must enter new – and dangerous – territory in order to do it.

Well, what do you think?  I love the sound of of Ethereals.  And sounds like we might be taking on some unexpected allies.  I do look forward to getting back into this world. :)

If you are curious about the first book, you can read my goshing review:  All Wounds

Or take my word for it and go buy it at Amazon:

Monday's Beginnings (175)

It's Monday...of a full length week....

I was hoping to get back to things last week.  Then New Years happened.  And my husbands grandfather passed away on the first.  We spent end of the week in the funeral home and with family.  It was nice seeing everyone, but under sad circumstances.

So, I didn't get back on the horse here as I had hoped.  I do plan on doing that this week and getting to visiting nightly as I always did.  It seems the end of the year was a rough two months here in trying to keep up.  But I think I'm ready to get back to it.

I did manage to pick up a book, which I didn't think I would be able to do, so it was one for my enjoyment and not review.  Also, I did get a few things up this week.

Current Read:
Beta reading.  I finished 2 beta reads and diving into my third.  Yes, I'm a busy girl. ;)

Finished Last Week:

Goodreads Synopsis:
A DEVESTATING SETBACK

Enemy tribesmen attacked the Initiates during the ritual Test to find magic users. Dindi’s dreams are in shambles. In despair, she decides to step into the forbidden faery ring, and dance herself to death with the fae. Then she discovers another choice that saves her life…but breaks the ultimate taboo.

A DESPERATE OUTREACH

After being unfairly exiled from his own people, Kavio may have found a new home, but only if he can protect it from another attack by the enemy. He gathers a small group to venture deep into the heart of enemy territory in search of the ultimate prize…peace.

But by the harsh laws of their land, one cannot both break taboos and keep the peace. They will have to choose, what, or whom, to betray.

And that seems to be it.  It really was a rough week for us.

Hope you all had a wonderful New Years and 2013 is looking up for you.

New Years Resolution Results for 2012

For the last few years I've been doing New Years Resolutions...Bookish Style.  In 2011 I think I did fairly well with hitting my goals.  In 2012...well, it was a pass and fail.

I know I already posted my resolutions for 2013, but I think I need to be a bit more organized here with scheduling.  I've been trying to do that, well before November I was, and need to get back to schedule here or when I'm doing what in the evening along with keeping up with the calendar here.  I have a schedule in mind for what will be posted on what days here, so now it's just putting it back into affect after the holidays.

What's on my list?
And Results after ~~
1.)  Re-write and Edit that monstrosity I wrote in November during Nanowrimo. ~~ Um, I bombed on this one.  I only read it once and made notes.  I really dropped the ball.  But not this year!

2.)  Write more.  I've been doing Flash Fiction Fridays, I want to keep going with these, and I want to do Nanowrimo again.  I got ideas bouncing around so I want to explore them.  I'm thinking about taking the 10 months prior to sketch out ideas to write the next story for Nanowrimo 2012.  ~~ I did keep up with the Flash Fiction Fridays rather well.  Yeah!  And I did do Nanowrimo 2012, and smashed it dead! lol.  I didn't make as many notes as I had hoped prior, but I kicked that stories butt.

3.)  Read more... this is a tough one as I'm a slow reader, but I want to try to bump my reading speed some.  I read 68 books here in 2011.  I want to hit 70 in 2012.  ~~ Actually, I did better than this!  I'm over 95 books in.  Now, I do have novella's and short stories in there, but I killed that number!

4.)  Visit Barnes & Nobles forums more.  They are the ones who got me started into the Internet world, and I miss my friends there.  I want to get back there and chat with them again.  You can join me, and others, also...any genre you want they have!  ~~ I started off the year great.  Things happen.  And I've not made it to visit as much as I want.  I need to get back to it.

5.)  Try to get back to some series I've started and loved, but still have the next book (or two) sitting here.  ~~ Ummm, not as much as I'd like.  I had a few series in mind when I posted this and didn't get there.  I'm working on a list to keep updated with series I need to get to.

6.)  I need to pace myself and slow back on review books I'm accepting.  This is a hard one for me, as many of you know I like reading the new authors and books but I got myself behind in 2011, so I'm slowing down this year on review books.  Unless I find someone to review with me, here at My World...that's always a thought. :) I'm keeping with the authors I've already done in the past, as I have to follow through with their amazing series, but going to take it easy on the new books coming in.  For me and the authors too.  I'm trying to come up with a review policy page that will explain this a little better.  ~~ Well, I did start using the word 'no' more.  It's so hard!  And I do have a friend that will join in from time to time with reviews starting here soon.  So, I'm going to have to work harder at this.

How did you do in 2012 with what you were hoping to accomplish?

Throwback Thursday (97)

I found this picture of Trinity College Library, and thought it would work for this meme with a little play with lighting and adding the words.

Let's talk about those books already on the shelves, yours or the stores.

I have a post for books I'm looking forward to coming out;
Looking Forward To...
But what about all those wonderful books that are ALREADY on the shelves.

Whether it be on your shelf waiting to be read or on the shelves in the stores waiting for you to give it a good home.

So, I thought I would share a book a week that is just waiting for me to travel through it's world.

Now... where do I start? Lets go by Published Date on the books...

This Week:

I won this one and was thrilled to have it!  It sounds like a great read with a blend of so many things.

Goodreads Synopsis:
Shamira is considered an outcast by most, but little do they know that she is on a mission. Kids on Mars are disappearing, but Shamira decides to use the criminals’ most unlikely weapons against them—the very kids of which they have captured. In order to succeed, she is forced to trust another, something she is afraid to do. However, Valens, her connection to the underworld of her enemy, proves to be a useful ally. Time is slipping, and so is her control on the power that resides within her. But in order to save her brother's life, she is willing to risk it all.

I've heard back from a few bloggers that they would like to join in this meme post, so I'm adding a Linky for you to join in.  Grab the picture above, and join in.  All I ask, is if you can acknowledge my blog in the post so others know where to come back to and join as well.  Thank you.

The Next Big Thing blog hop

Thank you Skyla Dawn Cameron for making me feel like something in the writing part of the book world.  As many of you know I've been participating in NaNoWriMo for the last two years, but not finished-finished a book or even published a book.  This year, I'm planning on getting through re-writes and doing some editing and seeing what I have left in the end.  I've got big plans for this one.  So this was a treat for me to be tagged in this blog hop.

Now, I've got two WIP sitting here.  I had hoped to get to the first project and rework it, but it seems the latest project I started doesn't want to let go yet.  So... here is a bit about the latest project I'm working on.

Here are the questions—
What is the working title of your book?

Cursed, By the Rain

Where did the idea come from for the book?

Hmm, this one came to me in pieces.  The preface came to me with a song, Lightning Crashes by Live:

But the idea with the rain, I'm not 100% sure why I gripped on to that.  It hit me as something different and I liked the challenge of a woman cursed by the rain.  I think from the lightning mention of the song which is followed or accompanied by rain.  I tried writing a short flash of this idea on my Flash Fiction Friday some time ago, and wanted to try more.  All lead to me trying to see what I could create with these pieces.

What genre does your book fall under?
I was thinking a blend of Urban Fantasy with a Fantasy feel, but I ended up in strict Fantasy.  Not a complaint by me at all.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
I am always terrible at picking actors/tresses for books.  So, this is my best try:

Jessica Alba for Jayda: (is there not a picture of her smiling? lol) This was the best I could do, but she looks to nice in this pic too.  Age her a bit and I think she could work.

Olivia Wilde for Shard:  Something about Olivia tells me she could pull Shards personality off to the T.  A little rough and cruel.

I should pick for Aros, but I have no idea what man I would place for him!  So sorry!  I'll have to think on him.

What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?

Jayda has escaped the fingers of the rain but when a Aros shows up to pulling her away from her desert needing her to help him with her warrior experience and knowledge of what happened in a devastated village brutally murdered sixteen years ago, a secret that with help from another could hopefully stop the release of the four gods locked away by the Creator - who's been dead - she will have to face the controlling rain once again.

Will your book be self published or traditionally published?

I'm going to go traditional first and see how I feel from there.  Maybe Indie (small publisher).  I don't know if I have the time to go all out self published.  We'll see when I get there.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

To actually write the roughest, bare bones of it, one month.  My NaNoWrimo project.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre.

Oh my.  I hate comparing to published authors and ones that are much further accomplished than me.  And truthfully, I don't know who to compare too.  Not yet anyway.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

This was  a challenge to myself, to see if I could write a character that couldn't get through an uncontrollable natural happening.  And to challenge her to do just that, get through it and live with it.  Also, that chirping in the back of my mind wouldn't stop until I got through it.

I have to mention there are many great authors out there that cheer you along and tell you -- Go for it!  So, I took their enthusiasm to heart and went for it.  Also, this years Nano authors I followed really inspired me with their stories to keep going after hearing the work they put into their stories and all of the roller coaster ride with them.

What else about your book might interest the reader?

A special unexpected character that showed up, Dirt.  He is someone different, and I've learned to enjoy him and the secret he possesses.  He might be a 'piece of dirt on the floor' as many believe, but there is one who knows he's much more than leads on.  And he is.

There could be more to life for Jayda other than death, we just have to get her to it, and keep her there.

I've created gods and a whole story to go with them, something of my own mythology if you will.  The magic is yet to be released upon the world.

Now I am to call upon new authors to share their current works.  They will all be posting on January 9, 2013 on their blogs to share with you what WIP they are working on.
