The Reborn King by Michael R. Miller
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
I'm sorry. I REALLY wanted to like this book and series. But, I had to stop when I didn't care if I listened to it any more or not. I couldn't connect with the story or the characters.
The beginning didn't draw me into the character. I felt I just got facts of a war being fought and demons. Then there's Darnuir who wants to fight where his father wants to keep falling back. But NO details to why either wanted to do their picked action.
I kept going after the major event with Darnuir, hoping I'd feel connected to the new person he becomes. But the way the story is written didn't pull me to him. It's fast glimpses of what the author feels are important moments in his life as he grows up. I never felt anything in these moments other than just glimpses. No emotion there.
So, at about 6 hours into the 13 hour 30 minute audio book, I decided to DNF. When I don't care if I listen or feel like I don't have reasons to keep going as I'm not really getting any answers, it's time for me to stop.
