The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We spring ahead looking forward to warmer weather, as snow still coats the ground. I don't know about you but the jumping forward an hour always messes with me. I feel as I lose an hour on the first day then jet lag hits me on Monday or Tuesday. I'll get through.
Weekends never seem to go as I plan. I was hoping to work on re-writes this weekend. I've yet to do so. The whole family being home on weekends makes focus hard. There is always some sort of interruption. I'm hoping when I get done with my daily running today that I'll be able to put time into re-writes.
As for reading. I have an hour on an audio book I want to get through today and I need to wrap up the story I'm reading. Life is moving so fast that it limits my reading time. It starts to bug me when a book is taking weeks for me to finish. I hate that! And it's not the books fault.
Do you struggle when life leaves you little time to physically read?
The Fit Booker:
Goal: Workout in any form of exercise (or on Wii Fit) 2x's a week. (to feel better and hope to drop a few pants sizes)
How did I do last week... This week I did have a good week. Monday I got a walk in at lunch and on the treadmill in the evening, Tuesday I got a short walk at lunch, Wednesday and Thursday I worked out with weights and elliptical. That's about as normal as I'm going to get.
Clan by Realm Lovejoy
"I loved the strong feeling of creating a society of clones in Father Krume's manner. We get that feel then watch it slowly crumble to pieces. He thinks this is a perfect concept that's not perfect."
Dirty Magic by Jaye Wells
"This book felt like it was one that anyone who loves cop shows could read. The story didn't feel high in the magic field that others would be distracted by it. The story feels as though it's more character driven based on Kate and her wants and desires to do or not do things, also her complicated family connections don't help her but make her beliefs stronger in her mind."
Goodreads Synopsis:
When town trouble maker, Louella Drummond, drops dead in front of Isolde Quinn's pet store just minutes after threatening both Issy and her cousin Graeme, the police in the small lakeside town of Silver Hollow assume it's from natural causes.
... Until it's discovered that Louella was murdered.
Not just any murder, though. Murder by paranormal means. Dark magic that could only have been performed by a powerful witch. And every law-abiding paranormal knows that dark magic is forbidden and carries strict punishment at the hands of "the committee" - the mysterious entity that provides law and order within the paranormal community.
Being witches, Issy and her three cousins fear they are at the top of the suspect list. To make matters worse, a secret division of the FBI has gotten wind of the happenings in Silver Hollow and sent two agents to ferret out paranormal activity. Even worse than that, Issy is annoyingly attracted to one of them!
Armed with their unconventional posse of familiars, Issy and her cousins dodge the efforts of the 'real" police and the special FBI agents while following a twisty path of clues that lead to a shocking betrayal.
The Wall by Jen Minkman
Goodreads Synopsis:
This is a revised edition of the novellas The Island & The Waves combined into one storyline with brand new content!
'I walk toward the sea. The endless surface of the water extends to the horizon, whichever way I look.
Our world is small. We’re on our own, and we only have ourselves to depend on. We rely on the Force deep within us as taught to us by our forefathers.
If I were to walk westward from here, I’d come across a barrier - the Wall. Behind it, there are Fools. At least, that's what everyone says. I’ve never seen one.'
Leia lives on an island where children leave their parents to take care of themselves when they’re just ten years old. Across the island runs a Wall that no one has ever crossed. The Fools living behind it should be shunned because they believe in salvation from across the sea. That's what The Book says, the only thing left to the Eastern Islanders by their ancestors.
But when a strange man washes ashore and Leia meets a Fool face to face, her life will never be the same again. Walt, the boy from the other side of the Wall, isn’t as foolish as she was always led to believe. And as Leia and Walt set out to bring the truth about both their societies to light, all the things they once took for granted fall by the wayside.
Their island world is about to change... for better or for worse.
happy reading my friend and have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
ReplyDeleteAvoidables caught my eye right away. Might check it out. I usually suffer from jet lag symptoms the second day of the time change too. Probably because it also happens to be a Monday. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I feel you, if it weren't for audiobooks I would be sooo far behind. Have a wonderful week, I hope you are able to read a little more.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky not to have family issues to get in the way of my reading. After dinner at night my dad watches films or sports or plays PS games downstairs and I get in a solid 4 hours of reading in my room. That and the odd extra hour during the day allows me to read plenty. So I'm lucky that I get uninterrupted time!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing selection of books! I hope you soon get to grips with that lost hour... we have that pleasure to come in a fortnight. Have a great week:).
ReplyDeleteIf I'm having a hard time with books I typically rely heavier on my audiobooks ;)
