For my Blogoversary I enjoy sharing the Top 5 reads of different genre for the last year, June 1, 2012 through July 1, 2013. These are the memorable reads with high recommendations from me. Well worth looking into.
I can only bring myself to do the last year, as trying to figure out the best of all time...yea, no. I love to many books on all different levels to try and figure that out.
Also, part of what makes this such an amazing thing, is my fellow bloggers. I love sharing books with fellow bloggers and learning what they have loved to share with me as well. This is a huge thing with me in the booking community. I have with me a book lover of Paranormal Romance books. Sharing their Top 5 reads for the last year as well.
My Picks, in particular order:
Sealed with a Curse (Weird Girls #1) by Cecy Robson
Loved reading this story of the sisters with werewolves and vampires. Great action and story, with a touch of blooming love. Can't wait for the next one!
A Cursed Embrace (Weird Girls #2) by Cecy Robson
That was one heck of a kicking second book to a series! Wowza! I love Aric. Love all the Weres. Love the sisters! Action packed and romance too. Always flipping pages to learn something new.
Red (Transplanted Tales #1) by Kate SeRine
Oh goodness, I really enjoyed this modernization of fairytale characters with not so perfect lives as thought in their stories and a enticing bloody mystery to solve, and maybe even a blooming relationship along the way.
The Better to See You (Transplanted Tales #2) by Kate SeRine
Oooh, loved this magical mystery with Lavender and Seth at the center of it. Kept me flipping to know what was happening, learning more, and to see if the love would bloom.
Kiss of Death (Blood Kissed #1) by Seleste deLaney
I really enjoyed this story and meeting these characters. These characters really stood out to me. So different. And I felt they really blended and clashed in a genuine manner. I really was taken by them all! There is a blend of action and romance here.
I've invited Jennifer of Reading & Writing UF to share her picks for the last year.
My Top 5 Urban Fantasy Romance Books (Please note that this list would be 100% different if I was listing by top 5 urban fantasy books. The books below are urban fantasy but with a little more of a romance focus.)
Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels Series #4) by Ilona Andrews.
- I may be pushing the romance aspect in this urban fantasy, but since this is my favorite series of all time, it had to be on my list. Magic Bleeds is where Kate and Curran finally get together, and it is explosive! Magic Bleeds is the turning point for the series because Kate finally finds love.
Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress Series #1) by Jeaniene Frost
- This is one of the sexier urban fantasies I have read. Cat and Bones will go down in history as one of the most famous paranormal couples ever. And all us girls will forever wish Bones was real...and ours. Beware, the Night Huntress Series can get very steamy.
Angel's Blood (Guild Hunter Series #1) by Nalini Singh
- The archangel Raphael is the epitome of alpha male. And though his arrogance and roughness will have your temper flaring, you won't be able to deny his raw sexuality and magnetism. Elena never stood a chance. That lucky girl. Though Angel's Blood is more about attraction and sex, it also hints on future romance.
Bitten (Women of the Otherworld Series #1) by Kelley Armstrong
- Bitten has such an amazing romance story intertwined within the urban fantasy elements. Clay and Elena have a troubled past but it's obvious they are meant for each other. Bitten tells a story about forgiveness, about acceptance, and about past lovers learning to trust one another again. This one hits the emotions hard.
Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega Series #1) by Patricia Briggs
Briggs is more famous for her Mercy Thompson Series, which is an amazing urban fantasy series but with a very minor focus in romance. Cry Wolf is a heart wrenching urban fantasy romance that will leave you feeling raw but hopeful. This book has very little sex for it focuses on relationship development and wounded characters mending each other.
