Sunday Post #45

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share new about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

~~~~~~~~~~
And I think my head has exploded, imploded? I don't know. There is so much going on and that I want to do that I can't seem to get organized to get to any of it. And yes, it's affecting my reading as well. I have three books in the works. Three books I love and can't stop reading. *sigh* I hate when I do this to myself. lol.
So, I'm hoping I can get my mind relaxed and focused this week. I need to get there. I'm curious to see what the winter storm coming through today will bring. Maybe I'll get another day at home to relax and...read. ;)
Around the Internet...
I've signed up for the Kickstarter for Billi Buddings.
Do you enjoy 1920's feel of a book with mobsters? With fantasy blended in? That is what Billibub Baddings brings to us. It's different, and I really love it. Billibub is a dwarf from another land that found is way to our world (in 1920's) and is a detective, looking for magical items that fell here as well.
You can currently pick up the first two eBooks for 99c:
There is only 15 days to back the kickstarter, if you'd like. :)
Review:
Dawn's Early Light by Tee Morris & Philippa Ballantine
Goodreads Synopsis:
Working for the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, one sees innumerable technological wonders. But even veteran agents Braun and Books are unprepared for what the electrifying future holds…
After being ignominiously shipped out of England following their participation in the Janus affair, Braun and Books are ready to prove their worth as agents. But what starts as a simple mission in the States—intended to keep them out of trouble—suddenly turns into a scandalous and convoluted case that has connections reaching as far as Her Majesty the Queen.
Even with the help of two American agents from the Office of the Supernatural and the Metaphysical, Braun and Books have their work cut out for them as their chief suspect in a rash of nautical and aerial disasters is none other than Thomas Edison. Between the fantastic electric machines of Edison, the eccentricities of MoPO consultant Nikola Tesla, and the mysterious machinations of a new threat known only as the Maestro, they may find themselves in far worse danger than they ever have been in before….
Purchased/Winnings/Gifts:
God's War by Kameron Hurley
Goodreads Synopsis:
Nyx had already been to hell. One prayer more or less wouldn't make any difference...
On a ravaged, contaminated world, a centuries-old holy war rages, fought by a bloody mix of mercenaries, magicians, and conscripted soldiers. Though the origins of the war are shady and complex, there's one thing everybody agrees on...
There's not a chance in hell of ending it.
Nyx is a former government assassin who makes a living cutting off heads for cash. But when a dubious deal between her government and an alien gene pirate goes bad, Nyx's ugly past makes her the top pick for a covert recovery. The head they want her to bring home could end the war--but at what price?
The world is about to find out.
Iron Night by M.L. Brennan
Goodreads Synopsis:
Underemployed by day. Undead by night.
Underachieving film theory graduate and vampire Fortitude Scott may be waiting tables at a snooty restaurant run by a tyrannical chef who hates him, but the other parts of his life finally seem to be stabilizing. He's learning how to rule the Scott family territory, hanging out more with his shapeshifting friend Suzume Hollis, and has actually found a decent roommate for once.
Until he finds his roommate’s dead body.
The Scott family cover-up machine swings into gear, but Fort is the only person trying to figure out who (or what) actually killed his friend. His hunt for a murderer leads to a creature that scares even his sociopathic family, and puts them all in deadly peril.
Keeping secrets, killing monsters, and still having to make it to work on time? Sometimes being a vampire really sucks.
