Monday's Beginnings (170)

It's Monday.  And a rough one as kids are off again, and I had to come to work.  *sigh*

First, I'm sorry.  I was terrible and didn't comment back on my blog to those who did comment last week.  I'll do my best to respond this week.  Even starting Tuesday I should be better.  Why you ask?

Tadda!  I hit the 50k on Nanowrimo last night! :D I'm excited as I have a little more to write for this phase of the project.  I have one more scene to write tonight and I'll verify my numbers.  Whoot, whoot! **do a little dance**

What's next?  Well, that's the question.  I've got the writing in my schedule so I want to now keep it there.  I plan on trying to rip apart and redo last years Nano project.  I'll see what I can come up with.  That is the project for 2013, to try to get a working draft of Alena from 2011 Nano.  If I can get through Alena to a point I like, maybe I can work on Cursed, by the Rain toward end of the year 2013.  We'll see.

I started reading another book.  I figured at this point in my Nano project it wouldn't hurt.  It won't influence what I'm working on at this point, it's already down hill to the battle now. ;)  But I've been slow at getting anywhere with Thanksgiving festivities for to many days.

I'm going to take the rest of the week and try to get things lined up for December and start a few posts that I have ideas on.  Maybe even get some reading in.  So, I'll still not really be around until the first week of December.

First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
Goodreads Synopsis:
A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper

Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

A Kingdom's Fall by Douglas R. Brown
Goodreads Synopsis:
That which survives the initial assault may yet die from the infection left behind.

In the destroyed country of Lithia, the former Gildonese leader of the Lowlands, King Fice, has violently assumed the throne, filling the void left by the Tek destruction of the country. His unnatural powers of sway have become more potent and his influence is far-reaching.

The Tek invasion has also left a void within the kingdom of Epertase. The war has tested the once-great people and, with the venomous words of men Queen Alina considers friends, Epertase descends into revolution. Alina barely escapes with her life.

Once again, the kingdom needs a savior.

And once again Rasi will be forced to unleash the darker part of himself in order to save the woman he loves.

All is not what it seems. Victory may still mean defeat. The war for Epertase has only begun.

Den of Thieves by David Chandler
Goodreads Synopsis:

But the desperate endeavor leads to a more terrible destiny, as Malden, an outlaw knight, and an ensorcelled lady must face the most terrifying evil in the land.

The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

NOW IT'S KATE'S TURN.

It's always been just Kate and her mom--and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear that her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld--and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy--until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she suceeds, she'll become Henry's future bride and a goddess.

IF SHE FAILS...

For my son I got the following. (Okay, for me too)

Alex Rider: Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz

Recruited to find his uncle's killers and complete his final mission, Alex suddenly finds himself caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

So, hope you all are doing amazing and if you celebrated Thanksgiving, that you had a great time with friends and family.
